False Religion in the Name of Christ
Eternal Security
Eternal Security
When people come to know Christ as their Savior, they are
brought into a relationship with God that guarantees their eternal security.
Jude 24 declares,
Jude 1:24 NASB
(24) Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,
God's power is able to keep the believer from falling. It is up
to Him, not us, to present us before His glorious presence. Our eternal
security is a result of God keeping us, not us maintaining our salvation. God
keeps believers from falling prey to false teachers. Although false teachers
are widespread and dangerous, we don't have to be afraid if we trust God and
are rooted and grounded in him.
To be sinless and perfect will be the ultimate condition of the
believer when he or she finally sees Christ face to face. When Christ appears
and we are given our new bodies, we will be like Christ
1 John 3:2-3 NASB
(2) Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not
appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like
Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
(3) And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies
himself, just as He is pure.
Coming into Christ's presence will be more wonderful than we
could ever imagine!
The Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed,
John 10:27-30 NASB
(27) "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and
they follow Me;
(28) and I give eternal life to them, and they will never
perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
(29) "My Father, who has given them to Me, is
greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
(30) "I and the Father are one."
Both Jesus and the Father have us firmly grasped in their hand.
Who could separate us from the grip of both the Father and the Son?
Just as a shepherd protects his sheep, Jesus protects his people
from eternal harm. While believers can expect to suffer on earth, Satan cannot
harm their souls or take away their eternal life with God. There are many
reasons to be afraid here on earth because this is the devil's domain
1 Peter 5:8-10 NASB
(8) Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary,
the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
(9) But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the
same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are
in the world.
(10) After you have suffered for a little while, the God
of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself
perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
But if you choose to follow Jesus, he will give you everlasting
safety.
Ephesians 4:30 tells us that believers are sealed for the day of
redemption.
Ephesians 4:30 NASB
(30) Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you
were sealed for the day of redemption.
If believers did not have eternal security, the sealing could not
truly be unto the day of redemption, but only to the day of sinning, apostasy,
or disbelief.
John 3:15-16 tells us that whoever believes in Jesus Christ
will "have eternal life."
John 3:15-16 NASB
(15) so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal
life.
(16) "For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have
eternal life.
If a person were to be promised eternal life, but then have it
taken away, it was never "eternal" to begin with. If eternal security
is not true, the promises of eternal life in the Bible would be in error.
The most powerful argument for eternal security is Romans
8:38-39,
Romans 8:38-39 NASB
(38) For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
(39) nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing,
will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
Our eternal security is based on God's love for those whom He
has redeemed. Our eternal security is purchased by Christ, promised by the
Father, and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever.
Amen."

Knowledge
Knowledge
2 Peter 1:5 NASB
5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge,
It’s a frightening thing to realize the extent to which our culture downplays knowledge in favor of emotions. These days people are more likely to ask, “How will it make me feel?” instead of, “Is it true?”
Sadly, the church has bought into the spirit of the age. Many people go to church, not to learn the truths of God’s Word, but to get an emotional high. The focus of theological discussion also reflects the contemporary hostility to knowledge. To a shocking extent, truth is no longer the issue; the questions being asked today are, “Will it divide?” or “Will it offend?” To ask if a theological position is biblically correct is considered unloving, and those who take a stand for historic Christian truth are labeled as divisive.
But knowledge is inseparable from moral excellence and Christian growth. It should be obvious that people can’t put into practice truths they don’t know; we must first understand the principles of God’s Word before we can live them out.
Peter knew well the importance of knowledge in developing a stable Christian walk and the assurance of salvation that accompanies it. He urged his readers to add knowledge to their moral excellence.
Knowledge refers to insight, discernment, and proper understanding of truth. Lacking such knowledge, believers become “children, tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine”
Ephesians 4:14 NASB
14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
The resulting turmoil is not conducive to spiritual growth or the development of a settled assurance of salvation.
The Bible commends child-like trusting, humble faith, but not childish faith. Paul exhorted the Corinthians,
1 Corinthians 14:20 NASB
20 Brethren, do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.
Hosea 6:3 NASB
3 "So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth."
Philippians 1:9-10 NASB
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;
2 Peter 3:18 NASB
18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Philippians 4:8-9 NASB
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
What we put into our minds determines what comes out in our words and actions. Paul tells us to program our minds with thoughts that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise.
